The Ibrido Method
A Hybrid Approach to Healing
Transforming Trauma
with Science and Self
The Ibrido Method is an integrative, neuroscience-informed clinical approach that brings together key elements from Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Memory Reconsolidation principles, and Progressive Counting. These well-established frameworks are synthesized into a structured process designed to support nervous system regulation and emotional integration in trauma-informed care.
Practitioners trained in The Ibrido Method are not required to gather detailed narrative accounts of a client’s traumatic experience. Instead, the structured process offers a trauma-responsive framework that prioritizes emotional safety, nervous system regulation, and therapeutic pacing. This approach is designed to reduce the intensity of exposure while supporting meaningful engagement and integration.
Polyvagal Theory
Rooted in safety and co-regulation, Polyvagal Theory has the potential to enhance personal and professional aspects of an individual’s life.
Internal Family Systems
Through an Internal Family System (IFS) approach, a person identifies and connects with the qualities of their core self and releases the burdens carried by trauma-affected parts of themself.
Memory Reconsolidation
The Memory Reconsolidation process allows recalled memories to be positively influenced, fostering new learnings and behaviors related to traumatic or challenging life events.
Progressive Counting
By limiting exposure to distressing memories, Progressive Counting allows individuals to engage with past events for very brief and well tolerated increments.
